How appropriate that we should gather at Thanksgiving to thank God together and celebrate our: "Fourth Annual CECF Conference!" |
Once again we found ourselves deeply challenged and wonderfully blessed as we gathered in Brantford, Ontario for our fourth annual CECF conference! New Covenant Christian Fellowship teamed up with The Pathway Church to provide a gracious and heartwarming welcome. The talented worship team led us into a sense of God's presence at each session! Rev. Dr. Jim Amy presented part one ("Who We Are") of a three-part series by telling the story of the Christian Church Movement. He reminded us how our God-given heritage must work to inform our sense of identity and vision as a conference today. Rev. Colin Paterson presented part two ("Why We Are") and challenged us to be the kind of churches that make faithful disciples and that are true to God's appointed mission. Our third presenter was Stephen Barna, pastor of The Pathway Church, a new Church plant. Stephen addressed part three, ("Where We are Going") by identifying the challenges that lay ahead for us as a fellowship in Canada. Stephen provided a sound vision for the future of our conference. Transcripts of all three messages are available online. During the business meeting on Saturday, John Tweedie (chairman) and Jim Amy (secretary) led us skillfully through the various items of business at hand. All seven member churches were represented save one that had a last-minute emergency in their community. Otherwise a wonderful spirit of unity and cooperation pervaded the meeting and much was accomplished to plan for the year ahead. Highlights of the business meeting and evidence of God's blessing were the welcoming of two new member churches into our fellowship as well as the election of new members to our Fellowship Council. It is with great excitement and praise to God that we continue to anticipate more growth in the weeks and months ahead. What a delight it was to stand together and conclude our 4th Conference with a communion service led by John Tweedie and to read the Covenant that binds us as a fellowship of churches. It was truly in the spirit of the Christian Church tradition to call on one another, by the help of the Spirit of Christ, to work together in Christian love for the sake of God's Kingdom. Once again, a big thank you to all the conference organizers who laboured to make our 4th Annual Conference such a great success. We are already looking forward to next year's gathering! God be with you 'til we meet again! |
